Los Angeles from afar

I was on a hike this morning up above San Dimas. I liked this little group of rocks just next to the trail.

Off in the distance you can see Los Angeles surrounded by the typical "marine layer" (smog).

Los Angeles Sunset

Sunset today Nov 5, 2010 looking towards L.A. The reds were phenomenal in person. Shot handheld, I was on a long walk and did not bring the tripod.

Star Trails

No editing, straight from the memory card. I wondered your opinion.

ISO-200, F-6.7, Time 5min, re-focused and angled toward the darkest sky.

You can see the obstructive clouds and there is light coming in from all weird angles. Some from the sun (although it is below the horizon, 8:30pm) and some from the nearby forest service station, surprisingly bright. Anyway, not even close to what I was hoping for but a start.
